Obamacare Scenario…

Am I the only one who got half a dozen notices about the Census?  First there are the expensive TV ads telling us that it’s important to fill it out because it helps our community get federal dollars.  Um, read your Constitution, folks.  The census is about determining representatives in congress, not about how to disperse our excessively taxed dollars.  Then, I got a notice telling me they were sending the census form.  Let’s assume that notice costs .10 each for printing, shipping to be mailed, postage, and such.  I’m sure that it’s possibly higher, but I doubt it’s lower.  That works out to about 11.5 million dollars for that little card to go to every household in the US.

I got three of them before the census form, the actual form, and two more afterward reminding me that I should have gotten them.  And those are the ones I REMEMBER.  The actual census forms, of course, must have cost more in printing, postage, postage to me, postage back, and then paying someone to input all that data.  Just sayin’.

Seriously?  Can you see the WASTE?  I don’t blame President Obama for this all by himself.  I’m sure a lot of the plans were in place before he took office.  I do wish he’d have tried to stop some of it and saved some of my husband’s hard earned dollars, but hey.

However, with the government being the ones to facilitate our future health care (which I confess makes me shudder), I’m wondering how much bureaucratic waste we’re in store for.  Remember the expensive toilets and hammers we whined about twenty years ago?  Child’s play after this census spending.  Picture this model for our new Obamacare… it’d look a little like…

“This is to remind you to make an appointment for your eye exam.”

“This is to remind you that we reminded you to make an appointment for your eye exam.”

“This is to let you know that you called us today and made an appointment for your eye exam.”

“This is to remind you that you made an appointment for an eye exam on 1/1/14″

“This is to inform you that your eye exam date has been changed to 1/2/14 due to the office being closed on 1/1. If you cannot make this appointment, please call to reschedule.”

“This is to inform you that you called to reschedule.”

“This is to inform you that your appointment is on 1/14/14.”

“This is to remind you not to be late for your appointment on 1/14/14.”

“This is to remind you not to be late for your appointment on 1/14/14.”

“This is to remind you not to be late for your appointment on 1/14/14.”

“This is to remind you that tomorrow is your appointment for your eye exam.”

“This is to remind you that you had your eyes examined yesterday.”

“This is to remind you to fill your prescription…”

Ummmmm yeah.

Dear Supreme Court Justices,

Do something about this unconstitutional and wasteful program before what seems like a silly joke become reality.

Thank you

A Concerned Citizen.

  1. Not only did we get all the notices you mention, and then some, but we also just received our SECOND census form. Wonder how many they’re going to send us? Imagine the cost if every household received two like ours did?!?!
