I Certainly Can, Can Can~

I CAN!

So I found these adorable empty paint cans at Home Depot.  The minute I saw them I suddenly had visions of sewing notions in cans covered in pretty paper.  Can’t you just see me sitting there sewing a twirly skirt or PJ bottoms and reaching up for one of these to get out the elastic or maybe a button?  I have no idea what I’m going to put in them yet.  I’ve had several ideas but none are decided.  I really thought I’d put packages of piping, bias tape, and rick rack in them, but alas, they are not quite tall enough.  Almost, but not quite.  Sigh.  Oh well, I think they’re cute regardless.  Maybe you have great ideas for what to put in them?  Huh?  Do you?  I’m waiting to hear your suggestions.  Right now the only thing coming to mind is elastic and maybe one for buttons.  It might be fun to start a new button “can” for all those extra buttons when you buy a few cards to make an outfit and there are one or two left on the card…  My grandkids and Lorna can ask to play with the buttons in Bestemor’s button can.  But, only if someone can tell me if I can spray this paper with clear polyurethane or brush it with decoupage stuff.  I need to know this kind of thing.  Anyone?  Anyone?  Bueller?

I just love the papers I used.  They came in a pack of several double-sided designs by Marjolein Bastin (one of my favorite artists).  I got them as a Christmas gift in an exchange I do with Hearth Keepers and I wanted to use these especially so I could use them as a reminder to pray for the giver every time I use them.  Won’t that be so cool!

Check out how I did it over at Eclectivity.
