I thanked the Lord for the season…
Thank you Lord for electricity to power the beautiful lights that decorate our towns, trees, and homes.
Thank you Lord for starting traditions so that we’d learn how to enrich our lives with our own traditions.
Thank you for family, friends, and neighbors who bless our socks off and give us opportunities to bless others.
Thank you for big huge grocery stores filled with more food options than we’d ever want or need to ensure everyone eats the things that say “Christmas” to them.
Thank you for Hungarian Coffee Cake, Peppermint Bark, Kringler, and hot chocolate.
Thank you for music. I cannot imagine life without six weeks of Silver Bells, What Child Is This?, Silent Night , We Three Kings, Mary’s Boy Child, The Carols Those Kids Used to Sing, Handel’s Messiah, Little Drummer Boy, Carol of the Bells, The Nutcracker Suite…
Thank you for the gift of Jesus… from You we learned to give.
Thank you for cars, gasoline, and people with beautiful lights to enjoy on any December evening.
Thank you for the Salvation Army. Nothing blesses my socks off more than seeing faithful bell ringers outside Kmart, Walmart, or Stater Brothers. I love hearing people singing and the clink of change in the bottom of the metal bucket.
Thank you for food baskets, Toys for Tots, and Angel Giving Trees.
Thank you for presents we don’t like, can’t use, or don’t have room for. They show us that we’re loved, thought of, and blessed beyond anything we deserve.
Thank you for begrudging givers. Maybe our grateful appreciation for their gifts will spark something new and beautiful in them.
Thank you for creating holly, evergreen trees, mistletoe, snow, and cranberries. They really beautify the season.
Thank you for men who love You, honor You, and make my heart ache when I hear them read Luke.
Thank you for love. Without it You wouldn’t have come.
Thank you for life. Without it, we wouldn’t know love.
Thank you for a young woman who risked death to bear your son.
Thank you for an honorable man who risked his own reputation to safeguard Your Son.
Thank you for ungodly men who selfishly plotted and schemed in order that Your prophesies would be fulfilled.
Thank you for stars to guide wise men from so very far away. Thank you for the reminder, every night, that there was once one star that shone beyond anything we can imagine and because of that, Your Son had sort of a ‘Baby Shower’.
Thank you for Angels to show Your glory to shepherds and to warn Joseph and protect Your Child.
Thank you for writing it all down. I love You. I praise You. I pray Your name is magnified and gloriied forever! (as we all know it will be!)
Glory to God in the highest. Peace, and goodwill toward men!
