Ok, time for fun.  Remember way back when… oh a good 20 years or so ago… when chain letters were popular?  They called them “clubs” in order to avoid the illegality of the practice but the gist was that I send out 10 letters with the name of the person above the name of the person who sent it to me and so on…. you remember.

I hated those things.  I felt like a heel for not participating but honestly, I don’t know anyone who ended up with 260 dishtowels (and why would they want that many) or thirty-six packets of stickers.  If a kid sent it, I tried to send ONE item to both the kid above and the kid who sent me the letter because it isn’t the kid’s fault that mom and dad got them hyped up about their free sticker scheme!  Didn’t always succeed but I did try.

Well, I was sitting here bemoaning the lack of embroidery floss in our fair town.  Now that DMC has required licensing to sell their product AND will not allow anyone but specialized craft stores (not stores with craft departments) get this licensing, we can’t buy it here.  It’s a 90 mile drive in any given direction to a place where you can purchase DMC floss.

This burns my cookies.  Not only that, it makes it very hard to smock.  I smock.  It’s what I do.  I also want to make more Waldorf Dollhouse dolls.  A lot of what I do over at Eclectivity requires some amount of embroidery floss.  So, off I went to Joann.com to purchase floss.  While perusing colors and making choices, it occurred to me that this might be a fun way to have a blog contest!

You see, embroidery floss skeins have numbers.  I could choose a number ahead of time and give people say, two weeks to mail me one skein of floss (or card if you’ve already wound it.)   It’ll fit in any envelope and a single stamp would mail it.  I thought it’d be fun!  Of course, someone reminded me that, after all, there might be legal issues with “purchase required” so I am caveating right now and saying you don’t have to send an actual skein.  Just post you skein number in the blog.

If you want to take advantage of my fun little “Curious to see how many skeins of floss would show up if bloggers each sent one”  survey side of the contest, just email me for my addy.  If I think I know you, I’ll hand it over and voila.  Everyone wins.

I don’t care if it’s DMC or Anchor.  As long as it has a number, you’re set.   The contest runs until Wednesday but I’ll update a text box with the number of skeins received for two weeks.

The Prize?  I’m glad you asked.  I have a $ 10.00 gift card to Bath & Body Works (Scented peppermint of all things!) that I bought just the day before yesterday for this very reason.  If I get two right answers, I’ll buy a Barnes & Noble GC and let the winners duke out who wants what!

Have fun choosing a number.  Feel free to tell me WHY you chose the number you did.  If there is a reason anyway!
