I am excited to have a new blog site.  While HSB has been a great intro into the blogging world, I am increasingly frustrated by its limitations so here I am!  I have a new home and once I get everything cleaned up and moved in, I’ll organize.  It won’t be long until I feel at home!

In honor (because I’m too lazy to think of the word I mean) of this exciting occasion, I am holding a contest to name the children’s book I plan to publish immediately.

Here is a synopsis in order to help you get started!

In a quaint little bookshop in a quiet little town sits a very special book.  Children visit the store looking for a new book but no one has bought this marvelous book.  This is the story of the careless mistreatment of books, the lessons of childhood, and training by example.  Enter Mr. Grimstead’s world and meet an ill-mannered destructive little girl and her harried mother.  Meet John and Robert Wortham and sympathize as Robert makes a sacrificial choice to own such a wonderful book.

Please remember:  This is a children’s book.  The title needs to appeal to the imagination of a child.

Ok… leave your titles in the comments box!  One title per comment.   Don’t forget to leave a way for me to find you!

The prize is a twenty dollar eBay gift certificate.  Substitutions can be made for those who do not shop online, just ask when you receive notification of winning the contest!  The contest ends, Wednesday night at 9:00 pm PST.

Ok, in order to help the process, I’m going to add some more details:

This is a children’s picture book.  I am going to take pictures, convert them to water/oil painting looking things.

I wrote this story for Challice when she was a little girl.  Sometime around age four, after years of caring for books gently, I found her flipping rapidly through them, one after the other, and then tossing aside for the next.  I wrote the story to remind her how to take care of books.

It is a simple story.   The entire thing takes place in Grimstead’s bookshop and is probably circa 1950 or so.  The little girl is a spoiled little thing, Robert comes to choose a book for his birthday, and Mr. Grimstead is pleased that after months on the shelf, someone finally owns the marvelous book.

Now get those entries in!  There are no limits to entries but please only one per comment.
